The only South African dog bred for guarding and protecting with no aggression is the black Boerboel. The Rhodesian Ridgeback dates back to 1652 and is a descendent of the Boer dog. The Boerboel almost became extinct in the 20th century. While they have only recently begun to be recognized, they are rising in popularity worldwide due to dogs that are being exported and bred in Australia, Europe, Scandinavia, Asia, Russia, and the U.S.
The Beauty of Black Dog
