Top Three Suggestions For Best Boerboel Health

As the premier South African Boerboel Breeder, it is our goal to produce champion Boerboels and to create conditions that are ideal for our puppy companions.

We love all animals especially, dogs. Allow Exotic Boerboels, to help you prevent diseases by creating an optimally healthy environment for your best friend. We are a voice, championing a vibrant lifestyle while discouraging degeneration. We want to extend longevity and reduce illness of all Boerboel’s.
The quality of life for your Boerboel Puppy starts with us, your breeder and ends with you, the new parent-owner. After all, they are more than just our best friends. Begin with a proactive approach. Think of your duty to not only prevent illness but also maintain wellness.  We will cover chemical versus holistic preventative treatment, dangers of obesity, daily exercise regiment, and mental stimulation. You can be a hero to your Boerboel by being a proactive and positive parent-owner.

Many breeders practice reactional therapy, meaning they treat illnesses after the pet arrives versus implementing best practices to ensure a healthy pet.  Promoting healthy practices is just as important as treating a disease after drugs and surgery are the only options. Owners, you will play a pivotal role in your Boerboel’s health and well-being, compared to any veterinarian. Waiting until your pet is sick or debilitated is not caring.  There is a significant cost savings by taking a proactive role in the health of your Boerboel puppy.

The top three suggestions for a healthy Boerboel

1.) A species appropriate diet. Dogs are Carnivores, inappropriate foods cause metabolic and mitochondrial stress. Dogs are scavenger carnivores who prefer meat. So yes, they can eat anything but keep in mind carbohydrates are not required for a dogs metabolism. Dogs use fat for energy. The best foods are those that lack high heat processing. This is to intern provide the best nutrition. However, not all carbs are bad. Just as in humans the difference is in the processing. Highly processed carbs are as bad for dogs as they are for human beings.  However, refined carbs ie carrots, sweet potatoes, provide essential antioxidants and are very beneficial in small doses. Dogs only need protein and animal fat to be healthy.

2.) Exercise and muscle tone. Always monitor changes in your dog’s muscle tone and overall body composition. Keeping him or her in good shape will minimize atrophy as your Boerboel ages. Consistent exercise is key to keeping your dog healthy. Keep your dog from becoming overweight or obese.

3.) Monitor stress and immune system functioning. Keep the immune system functioning at its peak by decreasing stress factors. Avoid the overuse of prescription drugs, antibiotics, and chemical pest repellents by promoting holistic healing. Parasite pre-vanity treatment should be used on an infrequent basis. Also, limit exposure to home and lawn environmental chemicals. The fewer toxins that build up in your Boerboel puppy, the stronger his or her immune system will be for life.
